1. What was the issue being argued in this case?
Is brining a flag a form of freedom of speech.
2. What did the court decide?
The Court held that Johnson's burning of a flag was protected expression under the First Amendment. The Court found that Johnson's actions fell into the category of expressive conduct and had a distinctively political nature.
3. What was the final vote count?
Five votes for Johnson and four against.
4. Do you agree with the court’s decision? why or why not?
I agree with the court decision because burning national symbols isn't right. People respect them and they often are connected to them. In this case the flag burning isn't right because for example many families lost their significant other in war and the flag represents the honor so I think they would want people to go around and burn flags that meant so much to them. Flags and other symbols of the countries are dearest to our hears so it's totally unconstitutional to burn them.
5. How does this case affect your life?
I don't really know how this have an affect on my life. I think that it affects us by that we all have more respect for thing simple as flags and that we know that some random guy won't tear a flag from our back yard. It gives us a sense of security.
